ABSTRACT:
This study set out to examine Tonga work songs as literary forms by bringing out the functions and
literary devices used in the composition. A number of scholars such as Elizabeth Colson have
substantially written about Tonga people of Southern province of Zambia. However, to the knowledge
of the researcher, there is hardly any documentation about the functions and literary devices of work
songs in the Tonga literary works...
